Dutch developer Infinergy admits:

  • Visitors will be deterred from returning to the area - (Infinergy survey)
  • The wind farm will be visible to walkers on Deeside, Ben Rinnes and the Cairngorms National Park
  • Rare Golden Eagles will die in the turbines
  • There's no guarantee that construction contracts will go to Scottish companies.
  • A danger of wildlife disturbance, pollution of rivers and loss of habitat.

    Who pays for Dorenell?

  • You do! Wind power costs more than double conventional fuel.
  • Dorenell will not directly supply local homes, nor will it reduce electricity bills.
  • The annual business rate will go the Scottish Government not Moray Council

Do we need Dorenell Wind Farm?

  • Wind power is increasingly discredited as an answer to Global Warming.
  • The Oxford Institute for Energy Studies say, even if wind farm targets are met, it will only have a very small impact on reducing CO2.
  • Oxford Economic Research Associates say wind farms will need £12 billion in taxpayers money.

A Question of Money and Morals.

  • Should The Moray Council be "rewarding" a controversial multi-millionaire land owner with an estimated £21 million for allowing the turbines?
  • That is how much the estate might expect if Moray Councillors recommended approval to the Scottish Government.
